Performance Max Gains Conversion Rule Suggestions Based on Your Data
Google began suggesting conversion-value rules inside PMax — proactive recommendations built from your own account history.
Mid-August 2025, PMax started suggesting conversion-value rules proactively, drawing on each account's own historical data to propose segments worth weighting higher (repeat customers, high-value products, specific geos).
What you need to know
The update in four points:
- Recommendations appear under the conversion rules tab, based on observed value
- Rules can boost bids for high-value segments without manual bid islands
- Data-privacy design means small accounts may not qualify for suggestions
- Suggested rules are still optional — accept only with data after review
What this means for advertisers
Value-based optimisation is moving from expert setup to one-click convenience. That's useful, but a naive accept-everything approach can over-weight a segment that was lucky, not valuable.
Next step
Audit suggestions against at least a quarter of clean conversion data before accepting, and keep a rule-free control campaign if you want proof of lift.
