Google Shuts Down Shoploop: Shopping Feeds Just Got Simpler
Google retired Shoploop, its shoppable video experiment, and folded the focus back into Shopping and YouTube. What merchants should keep doing.
In August 2025 Google formally shut down Shoploop, the shoppable-video surface it had been testing. Any merchant still optimising for it can stop — the intent and budget now belong to Shopping and YouTube Placement campaigns.
What you need to know
The update in four points:
- Shoploop inventory is gone; don't anchor strategy to it
- Merchant Center product data powers the surface regardless
- Video shopping intent shifts to YouTube Shopping and in-feed Shopping ads
- Feed health (titles, images, price) matters more than any single surface
What this means for advertisers
Another quiet consolidation: Google keeps pruning experimental surfaces and pushing merchants back to the core loop — clean feeds, strong images and buyable inventory on YouTube and Shopping.
Next step
Re-prioritise feed quality and YouTube Shopping. Run a Merchant Center diagnostics sweep and make sure every active product has a title, image and correct availability before adding new placements.
